I can assure you I’m not upset and of course anyone can comment, which is what I did on your comment. I’m also pleased to see you didn’t argue with my definition of “Local”

Fortunately, we live in a democracy and people are entitled to their own point of view. I personally believe that a Bradley Stoke resident is potentially better at representing Bradley Stoke than a Stoke Gifford resident.

In these days of cuts in expenditure I want someone who would fight for funding to be spent in Bradley Stoke rather than someone who’s loyalties may be divided.

Many thanks for the detail.

I am sorry if I have upset you in anyway. It was my understanding that anyone could join the blog.
I didn’t know that you had to live in Bradley Stoke and more importantly vote Lib Dem.

I won’t trouble you again.

By the way. I don’t live in Bradley Stoke but I do have property in the Town.

I take that as being affected by the decisions of the council.

I think what makes someone LOCAL is someone who pays the Parish Precept, is someone who’s affected by the decisions of their council and someone who local people can see has no conflict of interests.

I think David needs to understand why local residents have had their fill of “outsiders” making the decisions.

I read the comments again regarding LOCAL candidates.
What makes a person local?
Mr Brown states that he lives in Mead Road, Stoke Gifford (50 metres from the Bradley Stoke Border – and as the crow flies, about 150 metres from Jon Williams House)

People reading the blog must make their mark and vote for the person who can devote the time and listen to the residents, not take notice of the party politics which ruin the whole thing.

A person has to live in the Town, who has a job and juggles many things

A person who lives 2 miles away, is retired and can devote much more time and energy……

Well said John. Unfortunately it’s too late for the Conservatives to change their candidate, so they’re stuck with an “outsider”.
All Liberal Democrat candidates for the town council have lived in the town and we beleive it’s important that they do. Our new candidate Sachin Singhal has lived in Bradley Stoke since 2002 and we hope people will go out and vote for the LOCAL candidate.

Conservatives have done it again, by picking yet another non-resident candidate!! There are already almost as many non-resident Tory councillors as resident. Including the Mayor/Chairperson and Deputy.
Having checked, I find there is not one adjacent town or parish council that has non-resident councilors. Why does Bradley Stoke have to put up with it!!!!
When the previous councillor resigned, I thought it could be the first step back to all residents. But that is obviously not the case.
Lets hope that when the next all-ward election comes up, in 18mths time, it will be possible to have a all-resident council.
(yes, I know what the rules allow)
In fact, its not too late to change your candidate, Conservatives.
