Police were called to Rodway Road in Patchway at around 2:30am this morning (Sunday 9th January) following reports that a man had suffered serious injuries to his chest and abdomen.
The man, aged in his twenties, was taken to Frenchay Hospital, where he later died.
Avon and Somerset Police say they are treating the death as “suspicious”.
A man, also aged in his twenties, has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in police custody.

Police say they have now launched a murder investigation.
A man is believed to have left the scene shortly after the incident and made his way to Coniston Road and towards the Bradley Stoke area.
This man was white and aged in his early twenties. He was wearing a three quarter length dark jacket with a grey hoodie underneath, dark tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

The Bristol Evening Post has named the murdered man as Wayne Brown. The paper says police are asking for the public’s help to find a flick knife used in the attack. Read more: http://bit.ly/efUDoh
Please spare a thought for the family of the alleged perpetrator as well, they will need support also, to come to terms with what a member of their family has allegedly done.
Its not just the victim’s family that are hurt by a person’s actions. Most of the time it comes as a big shock to the alleged perps family that someone they have brought up and loved can do something like this.

Very sad story but why isn’t there a load of TV reporters crawling over Patchway as we have seen in Clifton with the murder of Jo Yeates? This murder barely made the local news. Double standards on the part of the media due to the young attractive blonde/whacky looking landlord element?

Police investigating the fatal assault say that local CCTV has captured images of cars driving around the area which may contain potential witnesses.
Officers are asking anyone who was driving a vehicle in and around the Rodway Road area of Patchway at that time to come forward if they have information which may be relevant to the enquiry.
