On Saturday, Bradley Stoke Netball Club’s (BSNC) 2nd team took on Team Bath seconds in a hard fought game that saw Bradley Stoke come away with a 53-41 victory.
Last time the two sides met, Bath came away winners, so Bradley Stoke looked to get off to a good start. They ran away with the lead in the first two quarters, some impressive forward play by Vicky Wills and with both shooters on form, the score at the end of the second quarter was 31-18.
When the teams came out for the third quarter, things looked to be hotting up! Bradley Stoke looked tremendous going forward but with Rachael King, who has not long joined from the juniors, producing some amazing defensive play.
In the last quarter, Bradley Stoke were determined not to lose the lead they had worked so hard for. Every single one of the players worked hard for the win and it paid off!
The final score: Bradley Stoke 2nds 53 – 41 Team Bath 2nds

The BSNC 4th team lost 28-22 to Skylarks. Player: Jemma H; Players’ Player: Frankie.
BSNC match report: “A good game against an evenly matched team who we have been playing for a number of years. The new line up was looking good, with the very welcome addition of Frankie back into the shooting circle and Lauren into mid-court. Control of the game swapped multiple times between the teams, but in the end their defence’s long arms and quick reflexes kept the ball out of our circle just enough for them to creep ahead in goals. Next time!!”

Only the Under-11 Blue Girls’ match survived Sunday morning’s weather. They faced a spirited Bristol Ladies Union Yellow in a match where they were always going to be underdogs. Bristol Ladies Union eventually winning the game 6-1.
The girls played a strong first half in freezing conditions but a variety of Christmas hats and gloves were on show!
The goal came from Amelia Roff when she picked up the ball from an excellent pass and then ran the ball to within shooting distance and fired home to give Bradley Stoke the lead.
Union however were always looking dangerous and managed to grab two goals from Ella Wallace and Zoe Toye before half time.
Some excellent goalkeeping from Jasmine Sheerer held the side at bay after half time, but Union showed some excellent team play to score another four to ensure they sealed three points. Goals coming from, Zoe Toye, Madie Hughes and Alicia Hayes (2).
The Blues, however, never gave up and Amelia Roff was one on one with the goalkeeper at the last kick of the game.
Manager James Horne said after the match:
“The team fought like lions, an excellent performance from all of them.”
Rugby: St Mary’s Old Boys RFC
The first team made it two wins from two in 2013 by beating Southmead 12-26 on Sunday. The Saints produced a fine performance which included 16 points from Liam O’Keeffe and tries from Dan Coles and Dan Wilkinson.
The second team were also victorious, beating Cleve 5-36 yesterday.
The under-8’s faced North Bristol, along with the rest of the minis teams. They played well and it was very even and competitive on a freezing cold morning. They won one, drew one and lost one.
The under-11’s also played North Bristol; they won the game 54-0 but the score line does not really show how close the game was.
Tries from: Drew Lewis (3), Jack Pickles (3) and Ethan Graham (2) .
Conversions: Drew Lewis, Jack Pickles, Nick Fraser, Scott Barrowman and Dan Parsons.
