Christmas lights switch-on event at the Willow Brook Centre.

Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook shopping centre stages it Christmas lights switch-on event tomorrow (Saturday 16th November) between 2pm and 6.15pm.

Star attraction is the popular children’s TV character Mike the Knight, who will be making appearances at intervals between 2pm and 5.30pm.

Santa will be arriving in the square at 2pm in a vintage Morgan replica (weather permitting), rather than his traditional mode of transport, and will be at the event all afternoon with sweets and glow bracelets for the kids.

Festive entertainment (hosted by Bradley Stoke Radio) will include The Pink Angels (stilt walking angels),  The Cat’s Pyjamas (a 40s/50s-style female harmony group) and local singer/song writer Abi Jones (who previously performed an acoustic set at the Bradley Stoke Carnival in August).

The ceremonial switching on of the Christmas lights is scheduled for 5.30pm, preceded by the traditional countdown(s).

The honour of switching on the lights has been given to local hospital charity The Heartful Dodgers, who will also receive a donation of £200 from the Willow Brook Centre.

Proceedings will be rounded off with a performance by the Bradley Stoke Community Singers between 5.45pm and 6.15pm.

Live segments from the event will be broadcast by Bradley Stoke Radio on 103.4FM.

  1. Bit disappointed with the decorations in the square (circle) this morning, one lonely tree, no lights…..I know it’s only November but I thought there would be more there 🙁
