The Bradley Stoke police beat team says it is giving a high priority to investigating a spate of vandalism centred on the Huckley Way and Baileys Court areas.
Speaking at last night’s Bradley Stoke Safer and Stronger Community meeting, PC Claire Fletcher said the team is aware that young people have been congregating in the underpass between Huckley Way and Oxbarton (Stoke Gifford) “smoking drugs”. It is suspected that the same youths have been causing criminal damage in Huckley Way and around the Baileys Court Activity Centre, she added.
Reports of car vandalism in Huckley Way first appeared on the Bradley Stoke Journal Facebook page on 20th January, when it was claimed by a reader that there had been at least three separate incidents of car vandalism “within the past two weeks”. Two further incidents of “tyre slashing” were reported by readers on 25th and 26th January.
The SSCG meeting was also attended by two PCSOs and PC Fletcher said all three were on standby to deal instantly with any reported incidents (she received several calls during the meeting).
In other police news, the meeting was told that there have been a number of non-dwelling and hotel burglaries in north Bradley Stoke, but incidents of anti-social behaviour and graffiti in the town have reduced noticeably after one “young lady”, said by PC Fletcher to have been “causing huge problems”, was arrested and served with an ASBO.
