Extended closure of hair and beauty salon leaves customers confused

A hair and beauty salon at Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook Centre that closed suddenly in mid-August is yet to resume trading, despite assurances that the business would re-open within weeks.

A notice on the door of the Excellence Spa salon, which opened at the centre in July 2011, reads:

“We are sorry that the spa is now closed due to unforeseen circumstances. We would to apologise for the inconvenience caused to our loyal clients. We will contact customers in the near future.”

Several customers, including some who had purchased services through the Groupon ‘deals’ website, have reported receiving automated text messages from the business to confirm appointments, only to find the unit closed when they arrive. One tweeted (on 22nd August):

“Went to Bradley Stoke for a spa session this afternoon. To find the spa, whom had sent a text yesterday, had closed down 🙁 Sad mummy!”

A message on the  Willow Brook Centre website reads:

“We have been informed that Excellence Spa is currently closed due to staff illness.”

“If you’ve booked through Groupon, you can go direct to them for help regarding your booking. You may receive an automated text confirmation which should be disregarded until further notice. As soon as we know more, we’ll update this page.”

Andy Wynn, centre manager, explained to The Journal:

“We are aware that the owner has had some health issues and as a result they have had to temporarily close the unit while she recuperates.”

“As far as we’re aware, that’s how the situation remains.”

This is not the first time the business has closed unexpectedly for a lengthy period. In 2012, the spa was closed for several weeks after the unit was flooded as a result of a water leak.

The Excellence Spa website is still live, however the firm’s Facebook page appears to have been taken down.

The Journal attempted to contact the firm for comment, by phone and email, but received no reply.

Have you been affected by the closure? Have you been given any information about when the business will re-open? If so, please leave a comment on this story.

  1. Real shame this has happened again…don’t think they will get the goodwill back again this time… I hope everyone who’ve purchased vouchers get their money back!!

  2. Got a £50 voucher for a friend for baby shower paid for by all her work colleagues. Looks like she’ll miss out on the kind gift from everyone.
