Bradley Stoke Way to be closed overnight for three nights starting this Wednesday

Sign advertising planned overnight and weekend closures of Bradley Stoke Way during January 2017. The road closures are associated with construction of the North Fringe to Hengrove Package MetroBus route.

MetroBus contractors Alun Griffiths have announced that a section of Bradley Stoke Way is to be closed overnight for three nights later this week. The closures are the first of a series that are expected to take place over the next four weeks and are required to facilitate the final resurfacing of the road following the installation of new bus lanes.

A statement on the Griffiths community webpage reads:

“Bradley Stoke Way will be closed for surfacing westbound only between Patchway Brook Roundabout (near Aldi) and the Aztec West Roundabout on Wednesday 18th January for three nights from 8pm to 5am. Diversion signs will be in place to divert traffic through Stoke Gifford for access to the Aztec West Roundabout during these times only.”

“Surfacing work will continue daytime in closed lanes with key work off-peak hours.”

“All surfacing work is weather dependant. Restrictions will be lifted if it is possible for us to complete ahead of schedule.”

“We thank you for your patience and apologise for any disturbance and inconvenience whilst we complete this essential work in this area.”

The section of road to be closed is shown in red on this extract from the traffic management plan, originally published last July (see right; click to enlarge). The full signed diversion route, which extends as far as Station Road in Filton, can be viewed via the following links

Access for residents of Orchard Gate will be maintained at all times.

People living in properties adjacent to the area of work were informed about the upcoming overnight closures in a letter delivered on 9th January. Griffiths say that they will aim to complete the most noisy operations by 11pm each night, although they warn that noise levels will still be noticeable throughout the night due to vibration, warning beepers and moving plant.

Griffiths have stated that they will also require one full weekend closure between the Woodlands Lane junction and Patchway Brook Roundabout sometime during the four-week period. The date of this will be dependent on weather, but its duration will be from 8pm on a Friday until 4am the following Monday.
