The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and April UK are the latest local firms to support the West of England MS Therapy Centre, located in Wheatfield Drive, Bradley Stoke.
The two firms recently released some of their employees from their regular working duties to spend time at the centre, helping out with some gardening, painting and decorating.
Workers from the Stoke Gifford based HEFCE, which creates and sustains the conditions for a world-leading higher education system, and Bradley Stoke based April UK, which specialises in health insurance, enjoyed their days with the centre and felt that it gave them satisfaction knowing that they were helping out a local charity and giving something back to the community.
Sarah Vincent, events and community officer, said:
“The centre would like to send a huge thank you to HEFCE and April UK for their support to the centre. It is because of companies like these, and the many individual volunteers, that the MS Therapy Centre is able to continue helping those living with MS and other neurological conditions.”
“Plans to develop the outdoor area at the centre are in motion, which will make a huge difference to our members. We want to give them an outdoor space where they can relax and take in as much vitamin D as possible, which is good for people with MS.”

The West of England MS Therapy Centre has been caring for people with Multiple Sclerosis, their families and carers since 1985. MS is a disease affecting the central nervous system and is the most common cause of disability in young people in the UK today.
It costs around £380,000 to keep the Centre running every year, and currently less than one percent is received from statutory funding.
