After having to take a 2-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, North Bristol Running Group (NBRG) will be starting a new ‘Couch to 5k’ (C25k) course from February.

A spokesperson for the group said:

“The last 2 years have been difficult for many of us, so it’s even more important to make 2022 about you. Over the past few years running has become more popular as more and more people see the benefits to their health, fitness and mental wellbeing. Getting out for a run is a great way to blow the cobwebs away!”

NBRG will be starting the C25k course on Friday 4th February 2022 and it will run for 8 weeks. This will be followed by a ‘graduation’ parkrun on Saturday 26th March. The course will be held on Friday evenings, with ‘homework’ nights on a Wednesday evening. It will take place at Bradley Stoke Community School starting at 6.30pm and the cost of the complete course will be £10.

Everyone is welcome – total beginner, New Year ‘resolutioner’ or even if you have run before but need a refresh!

Emma, who took part in the 2018 course, said:

“I couldn’t run down the road and the thought of bringing up my kids so unfit was scary. I have never had an interest in sport, so laughed when friends suggested I join a C25k. But as I crossed the finish line at graduation, with all the cheers and encouragement by the leaders and other members on NBRG, I was proud. Such a supportive group. Thank you!”

Amanda Robinson, one of the course leaders, said:

“I joined a C25k with NBRG back in 2016 and have been running ever since. I love helping at the C25k courses as it’s always inspiring to see our beginners’ journeys – from just about being able to run for 1 minute to completing their graduation parkrun.”
