This coming Sunday, Owen Wood (19) of Kemperley Way in Bradley Stoke will be running the London Marathon. Having Signed up to run for Chickenshed, a charity that helps in particular children with Special Needs and Learning Difficulties, in Mid January had just 3 months to not only train to be Marathon Fit, but also raise £1300 for chickenshed aswell.
He has collected in several places over the previous months. On Saturday the 28th February, he and his Sister, Sinead Wood, collected outside the Tesco in the Willow Brook Centre and in just 3 hours raised a fantastic £62 for Chickenshed.
On Saturday the 21st March he collected up Gloucester Road between the Bristol Flyer and the Queen Vic, and the generous people in the pubs at the time helped him to raise £64.36.
Similarly, the generous people on Whiteladies Road on the 28th March and the families watching the Mickey Mouse show at the Bristol Hippodrome on Saturday the 4th April helped him raise a total of £26.10.
Currently Owen has raised £1157 and is looking forward to actually running the Marathon after months of preparation. Owen would like to thank everyone who has contributed to his cause and will be resting up before running the Bristol 10k on the 10th May for St. Peters Hospice.
