BOKWA classes take place at Thornbury Leisure Centre every Monday at 7:15pm and, starting this Wednesday (11th July), will run weekly at 6:15pm at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre.
BOKWA, a craze which originated in the US, is already very popular in London. The name is derived from a combination of two words ‘BO’ which represents light boxing and ‘KWA’ from the South African cultural and traditional dance Kwaito.
The cardiovascular class combines elements of dance and kickboxing in a fast-paced extreme movement, which provides a fun, challenging, and energizing total body workout.
Sam Holmes, Fitness Manager at Bradley Stoke and Thornbury Leisure Centres, said:
“BOKWA seems to be the new Zumba. We’ve seen the popularity grow amazingly over the last 12 weeks with up to 50 people in a class.”
“We expect the classes at Bradley Stoke to book up quickly and we may look to run more classes in the future in more of our leisure centres across South Gloucestershire.”
