[Letter] Running in support of mental health

Debra Fry.I’m 46 and have been a resident of Bradley Stoke for the last 22 years. I will be taking part in the 2018 Virgin London Marathon following a successful application for a charity place in the team for the Mental Health Foundation. Promoting mental health awareness is something that I feel very passionate about, and personal experience has highlighted the benefits of spreading this awareness.

I started running in April 2016 and from then it has become an irreplaceable part of my life. You may have seen me running about Bradley Stoke with fellow members of one of the running groups I have joined – North Bristol Running Group.

My own mental health has benefited immensely from taking up running. To help share this benefit I have since become an England Athletics Mental Health Ambassador for Staple Hill Runners, another group to which I belong.

Over the next few months, I will be going ‘all out’ with events and activities in order to reach my fundraising target of £1,800! This will be a huge achievement and will also secure my place to run with the team. Come and join me at my first event, a karaoke dance night at Almondsbury Sports and Social Club! (See poster below; call or text me on 07876 194553 for tickets)

If you would like to show your support donations can be made via my fundraising page: uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DebraFry
