Bus timetable and route changes from Sunday 3rd September 2023
Bus passengers in Bradley Stoke will see a number of timetable and route changes coming into effect from Sunday 3rd September 2023. The changes affect First Bus services 73, M1 MetroBus and T1. The route of the 73 service is being extended while operating frequencies on the M1 MetroBus service are being increased. There are also minor changes to the service T1 timetable.

Timetables published this week confirm that the 73 bus service will be extended to terminate at the Approach Road stop in the Aztec West Business Park from Sunday 3rd September. However, on weekdays fewer than a third of journeys will go as far as Aztec West, with these being at off-peak times only (arriving between 10:23 and 14:57). There are also changes to the stops used by the service near Temple Meads Station.

Bradley Stoke’s 73 bus service is to be transformed into a cross-city link from September and will additionally serve the Aztec West Business Park at off-peak times. Currently operating between north Bradley Stoke and Bristol Temple Meads Station, the 73 service will be merged with First’s 92 service, which currently runs between the city centre and Hengrove.

Bradley Stoke’s 73 bus service, which has had its route truncated twice over the last 18 months, is to have a small part of its former route reinstated from September 2023, subject to regulatory approval. Operator First West of England is proposing to slightly extend the 73’s route so that it once again serves the full length of Woodlands Lane – but only at off-peak times.

The no. 73 bus service will no longer run between Cribbs Causeway and Bradley Stoke from Sunday 22nd January, with buses instead starting and ending their journeys at the Eagles Wood stop in north Bradley Stoke. The change has been justified on the grounds that the existing M1 MetroBus and the new M4 MetroBus (will) provide good connections between Cribbs Causeway and the Stokes.
