The Specsavers store at the Willow Brook Centre in Bradley Stoke is holding back-to-back fun days this weekend as it raises money for Guide Dogs and Breast Cancer Care.

The weekend of fundraising kicked off today (Friday 10th) as staff wearing neon clothes served up an array of colourful cupcakes to support Guide Dogs Week.

The team will continue their efforts tomorrow (Saturday 11th) by donning pink and selling treats in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Ed Stanleigh, store director at Specsavers in Bradley Stoke, said:

“We’re so proud to be supporting Guide Dogs and Breast Cancer Care this month. The whole team will be getting into the fundraising spirit over the weekend and we welcome customers to stop by the store, enjoy a sweet treat and show their support for the charities.”

This year’s Guide Dogs Week runs from 4th until 12th October. The funds raised will help Guide Dogs in its mission to provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. Specsavers has been supporting the charity for more than 25 years.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month runs throughout October and Breast Cancer Care is one of the UK’s leading charities, which provides information and support to those affected by breast cancer.

The search is on for ‘amazing partnerships’ in Bradley Stoke

Posted on Friday 17th September 2010 at 12:33 pm by SH (Editor)

Budding photographers in Bradley Stoke are being invited to take a picture that best illustrates an amazing partnership.

The competition has been launched by Specsavers in Bradley Stoke, in partnership with Pentax Cameras, to raise awareness of Specsavers’ national charity partner, Guide Dogs.

Guide Dogs supporter, the Rt Hon David Blunkett MP, said:

“I’ve first-hand experience of how valuable each of my guide dogs has been. As an aid to mobility, as a support in providing independence and as a companion, they have provided for me the opportunity to work and live on equal terms with others. Quite simply, a guide dog for many blind people is a liberation and an essential aid in building the confidence that we all need to live our lives to the full.”

Edward Stanleigh, store director at Specsavers in Bradley Stoke, said:

“An amazing partnership can come in many forms, whether that’s an act of kindness, a helping hand or a sign of encouragement. This can be between friends, family or even between pets and their owners. You can really let your imagination run wild and show your creativity to represent the Central England region at the national exhibition in London.”
