Anti-Porn Protest at The Coppice

The first meeting of the Lakeside Residents’ Association takes place this evening (Monday 20th April) at Baileys Court Activity Centre, Baileys Court Road (7pm start).

The group was formed after Local Conservative Councillor Ben Walker contacted anti-porn protesters who had staged a protest outside sex film producer James Edwards’ house in The Coppice.

Cllr Walker encouraged the protesters and other residents from the wider area of Sherbourne Avenue, Brake Close, The Dell and The Coppice to form an association “to discuss local issues … in a forum with direct access to the police, local community group and the council”.

Residents of The Coppice attended February’s meeting of the Bradley Stoke Safer & Stronger Community Group to raise their concerns about Mr Edwards’ activities but were outraged when police representative Inspector Bob Evely refused to discuss the matter during the open session.

The Journal understands that Cllr Walker and representatives of the group have recently held three-way talks with the police and Mr Edwards in an an effort to resolve the issues in The Coppice. Further details of the talks are expected to be revealed at tonight’s meeting.
