A local resident has called for late night firework sales to be stopped in order to prevent a repeat of a 2008 incident in which alcohol-fueled youths fired rockets at homes in the town. Local community radio station Thornbury FM has begun its latest month-long broadcasting period using a re-positioned transmitter that extends its coverage as far as Bradley Stoke. The station currently broadcasts for two 28-day sessions a year, but is campaigning for a permanent broadcasting licence that would allow it to transmit throughout the year. Broadcasts can be heard on 87.7 FM
