Parents of children attending Holy Trinity School in Bradley Stoke are calling for a safer pedestrian crossing on busy Pear Tree Road after several “near misses”. The road is a main access route in the town, but despite having a zebra crossing [Google Streetview], parents claim that cars are still exceeding the speed limit and putting children’s lives at risk.

A profile of Bradley Stoke’s new MP Jack Lopresti in The Daily Telegraph claims that the former mortgage broker received his “state education” at Bradley Stoke Community School (BSCS). Somehow I don’t think that’s correct. By my calculation, Mr Lopresti, born in 1969, would have attended secondary school in the 1980s. BSCS opened in September 2005.

Kerbside collections of food waste and plastic bottles look set to be introduced in South Gloucestershire following talks between the District Council and waste contractor SITA. If approved at a cabinet meeting on Monday 17th May, the plans would see food waste (in caddies) collected weekly and plastic bottles (in a ‘green sack’) collected every two weeks.
