Out this weekend: June 2014 edition of the Bradley Stoke Journal magazine

June 2014 edition of the Bradley Stoke Journal magazine.

The June 2014 edition of the Bradley Stoke Journal magazine will be dropping on doormats this weekend.

The lead story in this month’s 40-page edition is a look back at the “cows run amok in city streets” incident that put Bradley Stoke in the national headlines at the beginning of May, complete with photos from Journal readers. Well done to Andy Hipkiss for winning our £20 ‘best reader photo’ prize.

In the centre pages of the magazine, you’ll find the full programme for next weekend’s ever-popular Bradley Stoke Community Festival and there’s a further article about the two-day skate event that forms part of the festival.

There’s also a piece about Matt Smith, a teacher at Meadowbrook Primary School, who has won a prestigious national award for the use of technology in the classroom.

Pay parking‘ could come to the centre of Bradley Stoke after the town council agreed to support a request from residents of the Brook Court ‘later living’ complex for vacant land opposite the Tesco filling station to be used to provide chargeable off-street parking.

We also have pictures from the town council’s AGM of the outgoing Mayor handing over cheques to representatives of his chosen charities and passing the chain of office to the new Mayor, Cllr John Ashe.

Updates from local organisations include Bradley Stoke in Bloom (announcing the winners of their recent colouring competition), Bradley Stoke Carnival Committee (with the latest news about the Carnival planned for 23rd August) and the Stokes Singers (who hold their 21st Anniversary Concert on 21st June).

For those who don’t live in Bradley Stoke, you’ll be able to pick up a copy of the town’s number one news magazine at Bradley Stoke Library (from Monday) or read it online (from Sunday evening).
