Taxi driver receives kidney from wife

A Bradley Stoke man is doing well after receiving a kidney from his wife.

Taxi driver Anthony Charles and wife Michelle underwent the transplant operations at Southmead Hospital in May.

Mr Charles, who previously had to undergo dialysis three times a week, said:

“I already feel ten times better than I did before.”

Michelle added:

“It [the operation] has changed the quality of both of our lives.”

Bradley Stoke man benefits from revolutionary kidney transplant technique

A Bradley Stoke man has received a kidney from his daughter – despite the fact that they have different blood groups.

Engineer Mark Trimby, 47, had the organ transplant from his daughter Carly, 24, in March using a new technique pioneered in Japan which potentially offers hope to more patients with advanced kidney failure.

The operation was the first live donor kidney transplant between two people from incompatible blood groups to take place in the south west.
