Welcome to The Bradley Stoke Journal’s guide to driving schools in and around Bradley Stoke. Find out about what you need before you can learn to drive and how to choose a driving school or go straight to our Directory of Driving Schools.
Facts about learning to drive:
- Before you learn to drive, you will need a provisional driving licence (minimum age: 17).
- To qualify for a full driving licence, you must pass a theory test and a practical test.
- The average person has 40 hours of tuition before taking the practical test.
Advice from the UK government:
If you are paying someone to teach you to drive, they must be approved and registered with the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Only a registered approved driving instructor (ADI) can charge money for teaching you to drive.
Recent surveys indicate that nine in ten learners who passed both theory and practical tests first time were taught by an instructor. A fully qualified approved driving instructor (ADI) must display a green certificate on the windscreen of the car while teaching you.
