Promotion for two Bradley Stoke cricket teams

Bradley Stoke Cricket Club 1st XI players celebrate winning promotion.

There were massive celebrations at Bradley Stoke Cricket Club on Saturday as both the first and the second teams won promotion to the Senior Divisions of the Bristol and District league for next season (2013).

The first team secured a victory over Whitchurch Cricket Club on Saturday afternoon. An outstanding 75 not out from overseas player Bhushan Mankar, who has come from Mumbai to play here, plus a solid half century from Captain Daniel Peachey contributed to a total of 200 for the visitors to chase.

Whitchurch didn’t have the greatest of batting performances as they lost early wickets to Mankar and Prinsloo. At one point they were 69-7 when Barry Radford dismissed the majority of the middle order reasonably quickly. The last pair however made a tremendous fight back until spinner, Wayne Passmore, came on to dismiss the last man caught and bowled.

The celebrations then began. President Mike Mundy said he was “extremely proud” of the players and captain as it is the highest the first team have ever gone in the club’s 21 year existence.

  1. My son joined the youth section of the club this season having been inspired by Englands performance over the past few seasons.

Barry & the team have taken Simeon on board & have encouraged him at every opportunity.

He has enjoyed meeting the other members of the team & developing his cricket skills.

As he is home educated, this offers an excellent opportunity for him in both sport & social development

I have nothing but praise & admiration for those who give up their time to develop young people.

    Well done BSCC

  2. An amazing club with great team and community spirit offering the youth of bradley stoke an opportunity to become part of this organisation. The training and support of the youth players by the club, its member and the youth coaches is priceless. 🙂
