Jack Lopresti MP: News round-up (May)

Jack Lopresti at Farnborough.

An update from Jack Lopresti, MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke.

It was a real pleasure to ride on the maiden voyage of the M3 MetroBus route. After we have all been waiting for some time, the service is about to start delivering a regular run in our area.

The buses looked good, had wi-fi, mobile charging facilities and will have very advanced and efficient engines.

It’s an impressive scheme, representing £230m of public sector investment; which will capitalise on the growing demand for safe, secure and reliable public transport.

The service will be backed be a competitive pricing structure, which means all passengers can use the MetroBus as a value-for-money option.

One of the stops on the proposed M1 service will be the Willow Brook Centre. I dropped into the centre a couple of Saturdays ago, as I normally do, for lunch.

It was a great to see my friend Tony Peters, a fellow member of the local Royal British Legion Stoke Gifford Branch for which I’m vice-president, raising money for the RAF Association Wings Appeal. Tony has always been a stalwart working hard for charities raising money for the armed forces. He had collected a fair bit of money during the day and was selling a few RAF Association items. I even bought an RAF duck for my baby son Clifford!

From there I met with Bradley Stoke councillor Franklin Owusu-Antwi. We discussed many local issues and concerns. The conversation then turned to the Edge Church in Aztec West, of which he is a member. He kindly extended an invite to visit the church, which is going through refurbishment.

After quick visit to Charlton Hayes supporting Sanjay Shambhu in his community campaign (Keep Charlton Boulevard Open), I visited the Edge Church to see the works for myself. It’s an exciting project which will hopefully be a vibrant hub in the near future.

  1. I hope you will be giving equal opportunity for the prospective Labour candidate to report what they have been doing in the constituency. Unless they are given an equal right to be heard this report makes your paper look like the official Conservative mouthpiece and unable to be trusted as an impartial source of information.
