Three Brooks pub to introduce pay and display parking

Pay and display machines at the Three Brooks, Bradley Stoke

Shoppers in Bradley Stoke who are in the habit of leaving their vehicles in the car park of the Three Brooks pub while they do a spot of shopping at Tesco could be in for a surprise this weekend when a pay and display parking system is introduced.

Payment machines and signage have been installed at the Savages Wood Road site over the last few days and the system is due to go live tomorrow (Saturday 17th).

Pub Manager Stephen Williams says the measure is being introduced as a “last resort” following complaints from customers unable to find a parking place, even when the pub is not especially busy.

The situation has come to a head after the pub lost 32 of its parking spaces to the neighbouring McCarthy & Stone housing development in early October, after which Mr Williams told The Journal he was looking at “putting solutions in place” to deal with unauthorised users of the car park.

Tesco staff, shoppers visiting the Willow Brook Centre and parents picking up children from the nearby Meadowbrook Primary School are said to be the main culprits.

Pubwatch comes to Bradley Stoke

Posted on Friday 13th November 2009 at 8:42 am by SH (Editor)

National Pubwatch

Local police have announced that a Pubwatch scheme is now up and running in Bradley Stoke.

Three pubs in Bradley Stoke -The Bradley Stoke, The Three Brooks and Baileys Court Inn – have joined The Travellers Rest in Patchway and Stoke Gifford’s Parkway Tavern and Beaufort Arms as founder members.

Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Steve Palmer was instrumental in setting up the scheme.

The pubs will work together with local police to deal with any issues that arise in or around the licensed premises – including anti-social behaviour, drug dealing/usage, assaults and criminal damage.

Police say that anyone involved in an incident at any one of the premises can be banned from all pubs in the scheme for a period of three to twelve months.

Recent incidents at the Three Brooks pub in Savages Wood Road have seen one man hospitalised after a late night brawl (June 2009) and another hit over the head with a bottle (August 2009).

The Pubwatch scheme is featured in the November edition of the Bradley Stoke neighbourhood policing team newsletter, which also includes articles about firework curfews and anti-social behaviour at Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre.
