Jack Lopresti MP: News round-up (August)

It has been a busy time over the past month right across the constituency. It was a pleasure to be a guest at the ‘Flying into the Future’ service on Filton Airfield. The service was to celebrate its history, as well as embrace its future, and the opportunities the new development would bring. It was great to be able to speak to representatives of developer YTL and constituents to discuss the plans.

I also recently attended ‘Go Wild’ at Winterbourne Medieval Barn, which was a well-attended event in collaboration with Avon Wildlife Trust. It was a day of nature- and history-based exploration, and enjoyed by many families during their summer holidays.

It was disappointing that a decision on the Cribbs Causeway expansion plan has been further delayed into October, two months later than previously planned. I had a meeting with Deborah Jones, the Cribbs Causeway centre director, to discuss developments and will continue to keep a close eye on developments regarding the decision and continue to work for a successful outcome.

There are still many businesses along Gipsy Patch Lane that remain particularly concerned about the Cribbs Patchway MetroBus Extension works that have now been approved by the council planning authorities. I recently wrote to some of the affected businesses, and will be looking to facilitate a meeting with businesses and the council to ensure that their concerns are heard before final plans are made.

I have been beginning to organise my first Senior Citizens Advice and Information Fair. The fair will be full of information ranging from practical advice on finances and safety, to learning new skills and hobbies, and ways of keeping active. It presents a fantastic opportunity for the elderly within our community, or their families, to gain some free information and advice on a range of subjects. More details will be found in the coming weeks on my website.

If you would like to discuss anything with me, be it as a resident, organisation or business, please contact my constituency office in Bradley Stoke on 01454 617783 or email me on jack.lopresti.mp@parliament.uk to arrange a suitable surgery time, or to arrange a visit to your premises.
