A ‘new’ bus service that comes into operation from Monday 2nd September 2024 will restore a direct link from stops in south Bradley Stoke to Bristol Parkway, with onward connections from there to Southmead Hospital.
The Stagecoach 71 service, renumbered from the present 3X, is having its route between the Aztec West Business Park and Bristol Parkway altered so that it travels along Bradley Stoke Way rather than Stoke Lane and Little Stoke Lane.
Within the Aztec West Business Park, buses on the 71 route will make a full traversal of the Park Avenue loop, serving three stops in addition to the Approach Road stop near the entrance.
Bradley Stoke residents wishing to reach Southmead Hospital will be able to change onto the Stagecoach 10 and 11 services or the First Y6 service at Bristol Parkway.
Passengers are advised to use an online journey planner to find the best available connections.
As shown on the above route map, in the outbound direction, the 71 service runs from Bristol Temple Meads to Bristol Parkway via the city centre, Redland, Filton, Aztec West, Bradley Stoke and Parkway North (entering Parkway Station via Hunts Ground Ground).
Compared to the existing 3X service, Stagecoach says it has added extra peak-time trips to “make commuting easier for those travelling from the city’s train stations to the Aztec West Business Park”.
There are also additional evening journeys leaving Bristol Parkway Station Monday to Friday at 18:55 and 20:05 travelling through Bradley Stoke to Aztec West and Filton.
The service through Bradley Stoke will operate with a roughly hourly frequency during the daytime from Monday to Friday. The Saturday service is also hourly but without the additional peak-time journeys, while there is no service on Sundays.
Little Stoke and Stoke Lodge will continue to be served by Stagecoach’s service 12.
Speaking about this and other changes being introduced from September, Chris Hanson, managing director, Stagecoach West, said:
“We’re constantly reviewing the needs of the communities we serve and travel patterns to react quickly when we see a need, so we’re delighted to introduce these new improvements to our services in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.”
“These changes, improvements and additions will make life so much easier for daily commuters and leisure customers as well as expanding our services in the area, so we look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces on board.”
