Change of hands for Bright Sparks pre-schools
The Bright Sparks pre-schools in Stoke Lodge and Downend have changed hands, and plans to make the settings more flexible for local families have been revealed. The pre-schools, which are located within the grounds of Stoke Lodge and Stanbridge primary schools, will be run by new managing director Vicky Ashbolt.

Prints of local student’s ‘hero’ word art drawing now available to order
Prints of an incredible drawing of a mask-wearing nurse created by a Bradley Stoke art student using the word ‘hero’ repeated thousands of times are now available to order in exchange for a donation to a local NHS charity. The original ‘hero’ drawing was created in April 2020, at the peak of the UK’s coronavirus emergency, by Jessica Willcox-Drew, 18.

Petition launched after Holy Trinity serves notice on private after-school club
A Bradley Stoke primary school has come under fire for serving notice on a commercial after-school club provider at the height of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Bradley Stoke Wise Owls Club, established in the town since 2014, has been operating at Holy Trinity Primary School since April 2019 but is now being forced out as the school intends to start its own provision.

Local student’s ‘hero’ word art drawing to be raffled for charity
A Bradley Stoke art student has created a remarkable picture of a mask-wearing nurse formed of thousands of hand-written instances of the word ‘hero’. Jess Willcox-Drew, 18, took around ten hours to create the work, using a 0.03mm fine liner pen on a dark blue background – the signature colour of the NHS.

Lake desilting project: Further details released
The lake will be desilted by machine and the silt moved using dumper trucks to a spoil area (behind BSCS) which has recently been cleared in preparation for the main scheme starting in the autumn. Additionally, a 300-metre stretch of pathway along the northern edge of the lake will be surfaced.

Local mum and son team become published authors
Local resident Alicia Chrysostomou and her son Sebastian were amazed to have become published authors on 28th January. Council finds £250k to pay for lake desilting
Councillors in Bradley Stoke have welcomed South Gloucestershire Council’s (SGC’s) allocation of £250,000 to an environmental project that will see the lake in the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve desilted for the first time in 15 years.
