A group committed to supporting families across Bristol and South Gloucestershire has received the backing of a leading housebuilder. Mamas Bristol, which operates a hub in Bradley Stoke, has secured £1,000 of funding from Persimmon Homes Severn Valley. The donation will help increase the number of events put on by the organisation to support local people.

The Labour Party has chosen Claire Hazelgrove as its prospective parliamentary candidate for the Filton and Bradley Stoke (FaBS) constituency at the next general election. The 34-year-old was selected from a short list of four by local party members at a hustings event held at Abbeywood Community School, Stoke Gifford, on Saturday 12th November.

A new social group has been formed for adults with hidden disabilities who live in Bradley Stoke or the wider South Gloucestershire and north Bristol area. Hidden Gems (formerly known as Path to Aspios) was formed in June 2022 by Jonathan Broadbent after he found himself struggling to meet other adults with hidden disabilities similar to his own.

The ongoing shortage of bus drivers is being blamed for a decision to axe 75 journeys every week on the no. 73 route through Bradley Stoke. Bus operator First West of England says the radical step, announced on Wednesday 16th November and effective immediately, is intended to help it deliver a “more reliable service” for customers.

Bradley Stoke WI has continued to thrive and grow during 2022 and has welcomed several new members which has swelled our numbers to 40 and above the pre-Covid membership level, writes branch secretary Janet Hunt. Activities have included handbell ringing as well as crafting, knitting and sewing. Talk topics have ranged from travel to local charities and businesses.

A charity fun run in which participants dress up as elves is returning to Bradley Stoke on Sunday 4th December following a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Organised by members of North Bristol Running Group, the 6km Mental ‘Elf Run starts from Meadowbrook Primary School and takes in parts of the Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve.

The boundary of the parliamentary constituency of Filton and Bradley Stoke (FaBS) looks set to be adjusted at its western and eastern extremities following the publication of ‘final draft’ recommendations by the Boundary Commission for England. The latest proposals would see FaBS losing the South Gloucestershire ward of Pilning & Severn Beach, while gaining the Emersons Green ward.
