Police are appealing for witnesses after two teenagers were assaulted on a playing field to the side of Bradley Stoke Surgery. Two boys, aged 14 and 16, were assaulted by three people on Patchway Common, located behind Oaktree Crescent in Bradley Stoke, on Friday 28th October. Officers are now looking for three suspects and have issued descriptions for two of them.

Members of 1st Bradley Stoke Scout Group are busy preparing for the annual Remembrance parade and ceremony on Sunday 13th November. Local youth groups will parade from the Jubilee Centre. The Remembrance ceremony will take place in the town square at the Willow Brook Centre. All members of the community are invited to attend.

Bradley Stoke Youth FC’s Under-7 players were thrilled to receive new matchday jackets that were kindly purchased for them by the Luke Wheaton Legacy Trust, writes U7 Orange team manager Martin Lee. The trust was set up in memory of Luke Wheaton, a former Bradley Stoke Youth player who sadly lost his life in the tragic Avonmouth explosion in 2020, at the age of 16.

Police were called to the scene of an “unlicensed music event” near Bradley Stoke in the early hours of Sunday morning (30th October). A member of the public called police shortly after midnight to report seeing cars arriving at the site of a disused warehouse just off Old Gloucester Road (on the section between Winterbourne Road and Bristol Road, Hambrook).

Following the trial of a ‘low noise’ format in 2021, Bradley Stoke’s hugely popular FREE fireworks display reverts to a ‘traditional’ (loud) format for this year’s renewal on Sunday 6th November. After considering feedback from the public regarding the 2021 event, councillors voted 6:4 for a return to a ‘traditional’ format. The agreed budget for this year’s event is £9,300.

A vending machine offering free sexual health testing kits has been installed in one of the entrance foyers at Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook shopping centre. The device, one of four recently installed in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, provides an easy, free, fast and confidential way to test for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

Plans have been submitted for the creation of a large new foodstore at Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook shopping centre which would be created by more than doubling the size of the retail unit currently occupied by Poundstretcher. The centre’s management has declined to comment on rumours that a well-known discount retailer wishes to occupy the unit.

A number of bus services that run through the Stokes will see timetable and/or route changes from Sunday 9th October. Route changes are being made on the T1 and Y6 services, while timetable changes apply to the 19, 73, T1 and Y6 services. Meanwhile, across the wider Bristol and South Gloucestershire area, a number of services are being withdrawn.

Staff and children at Happy Days Nursery & Pre-School in Bradley Stoke are celebrating their second successive ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspection report. Situated within the Almondsbury Business Park, off Woodlands Lane, the setting opened its doors in 2015, receiving an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted judgement at its first inspection in July 2016. This has now been followed with another top rating following an inspection in August.

Bradley Stoke’s Willow Brook shopping centre has changed hands for the second time in just over six years after being acquired by Supermarket Income REIT plc for £84 million. The centre’s new owner is a FTSE 250 real estate investment trust that aims to provide inflation-protected, long-dated income from grocery property in the UK.
