The 2020 GCSE results at Bradley Stoke Community School are reported to be “broadly in line” with last year’s outcomes, with 85 percent of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and maths (82 percent last year) and 60 percent achieving at least a grade 5 in both subjects (56 percent last year).

Timetable changes coming into effect on Sunday 6th September 2020 will see two new bus services operating in Bradley Stoke as Stagecoach’s 77 and 3B are replaced by new routes. There are also changes to services in the neighbouring areas of Little Stoke and Stoke Gifford.

Work on a £2.9m scheme of major improvements at Great Stoke (Rabbit) Roundabout is still on track to be completed by the end of September, three months ahead of schedule. A three-week period of overnight road closures that began on 5th August was drawing to an end as we went to press.

Motorists in the Stokes will have to contend with yet another series of road closures from Thursday 13th August 2020 when a major resurfacing scheme gets under way on Orpheus Avenue and the southern end of Brook Way. The work is expected to last four weeks.

Members of the 1st Bradley Stoke Rainbows have been unable to meet in person since 16th March, but this certainly hasn’t stopped them being active! The unit’s 30th anniversary was celebrated on Saturday 6th June with a day of activities and an online sleepover.

With the improvement work at Great Stoke Roundabout (a.k.a. Rabbit Roundabout) now “nearly complete” (three months ahead of schedule), a series of overnight road closures is due to begin on Wednesday 5th August 2020 to allow resurfacing of the carriageway to be carried out.

Local councillors have welcomed the allocation of funds to resurface Orpheus Avenue (Little Stoke) and part of Brook Way (Bradley Stoke). The work will take place over a four-week period starting on Thursday 13th August 2020.
