‘Last Choir Standing’ conductor to host community workshop at BSCS

Choir conductor Grenville Jones - of Last Choir Standing fame.

One of the UK’s best known choir conductors will be taking a Sing for All Workshop at Bradley Stoke Community School next Saturday (22nd September).

Grenville Jones lives in Bath and has been featured on TV and radio across the world. In July he received an honorary doctorate from Bath Spa University for his contribution to music.

Bath Male Choir.

He is conductor of the famous ‘Last Choir Standing’ Bath Male Choir that reached the finals of the BBC show three years ago, gaining an audience of millions. They will be the guests at an evening concert which is part of the workshop day.

Grenville leads a number of music projects. He is founder of the Goldies Charity that brings music to people who live in isolation across the West and South Wales.

Grenville enjoys the reputation of “getting people of all ages to sing.” He works regularly for the BBC and last November linked with Gareth Malone in London as the choir leader who took the West Country’s representative youth choir in a BIG SING which linked choirs across the UK.

Mr Jones said:

“The workshop is for everyone and in particular, people who have never sung in a choir, but want to find out how much fun it really is.”

“Come along and bring your friends. Everyone who takes part in the workshop will be singing at the concert in the evening in a fantastic finale!”

The workshop begins at 3pm and the evening concert at 7pm. Both will raise money for the school.

Grenville’s busy schedule means that he can only take a limited number of workshops per year. Early in 2012, he linked with ACM Gospel Choir leader Mark De-Lisser for a sell-out Workshop on the Isle of Wight. He was recently also asked to lead a BBC Wiltshire Community Choir which took part in the Salisbury Olympic Flame celebrations.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £6 for Juniors (under 15) which includes the workshop and the evening concert – they are selling fast! Please call Jody Chorley on 01761 472468 Mon-Thurs 9:30am-2pm to book tickets.
