Post-16 students at Bradley Stoke Community School celebrate their examination results.

Students at Bradley Stoke Community School (BSCS) are celebrating the results of their Post-16 examinations following two years of disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Most of the students were unable to sit GCSEs in 2020 and lost six months of their Year 12 school-based learning due to the pandemic.

The school reports that over 31 percent of all grades achieved were A*- A and 58 percent were A*- B, which is “in line with the best ever results at the school”.

There has been an increase in the number of students gaining places at Russell Group universities.

Students have also secured top degree apprenticeships at companies such as the Waterman Group, Airbus, Burges Salmon and Arup.

Headteacher Steve Moir commented:

“Our students worked incredibly hard and showed incredible resilience and commitment to achieve these results, especially with the additional challenges that the Covid virus have given to our students. I would also like to extend my thanks to our dedicated staff, who always set high standards and have provided huge support for our young people with everything additional that they have had to contend with to fulfil their potential. We would like to wish everyone receiving their results today every success, whatever they choose to do next.”

Assistant headteacher and head of Post-16, Sadie McCombe, added:

“These results have come as a direct result of the relentless commitment and effort that the students and staff have put in over the past two years despite the unprecedented difficulties faced. I am so pleased that all their efforts have been recognised and wish them the very best for the future.”
