A Bradley Stoke town councillor elected as an Independent at a by-election in May 2021 has announced that she has joined the Labour Party. Cllr Angela Morey won the by-election, for one of the six seats representing the Bradley Stoke North ward, with 38.7 percent of the votes cast. The Labour candidate in the three-way contest picked up just 24.0 percent.

Bradley Stoke’s 73 bus will no longer serve Baileys Court Road and Webbs Wood Road from Sunday 30th January 2022, operator First West of England has announced. Instead of making a loop through the south-east corner of the town, the 73 buses will now traverse the full length of Brook Way…

The Olympus Academy Trust is consulting on proposed changes to admission arrangements for some of its schools with effect from September 2023. If approved, the changes would see the Reception intake of Stoke Lodge Primary School being halved and the minimum academic criteria for entry to the trust’s Post-16 programme being raised by one GCSE grade.

Members of Bradley Stoke Rotary Club have planted thousands of tiny crocus bulbs in a roadside verge with the aim of creating an annual floral display to celebrate the success of a worldwide programme to eradicate polio. The planting follows an earlier one alongside Baileys Court Road, which flowered for the first time in spring 2021.

A trial of rental e-scooters across the West of England has been extended into 2022. Voi Technology Ltd, which operates the rental scheme, says almost 2.5 million e-scooter rides have been taken across Bristol, Bath and South Gloucestershire – making the service “one of the most well-used in Europe”.

Scouts from the 1st Bradley Stoke group experienced “biblical” weather on a recent camp held at Woodhouse Park, near Almondsbury. It rained overnight on the day of arrival (Friday), and that became the theme until they left on Sunday, reports Nick Nelson, group chair, “Very quickly, the ground turned to mud, and the mud then just got deeper…”

Wheatfield Primary School held one of its ‘Grounds Days’ on Saturday 6th November, after having to take a break for the last 18 months due to the pandemic. Sixty-six people came together, made up of children, parents, staff and governors, to help improve and maintain the school grounds.
