A group of Year 10 students from St Bede’s Catholic College have formed a company called Vitae which has become popular in the locality and won several awards for its original product. The team members and business directors include Ann Biju, Samuel Brady, Amara Fordham-Vizcaino, Gelo Tano, John Estopen, Kieran Wilson and Adam Ankudowicz. We spoke to managing director Ann Biju, who lives in Bradley Stoke, about the product her business sells and how her team works together.
“We have created a product that is centred around putting the life into music,” Ann told us. The young entrepreneurs are selling an increasingly popular headphone wrapping kit. It is a trendy product which enables users to buy headphones which wrap in a way that avoids them getting tangled. The team has won awards such as ‘Overall Best Team’ and ‘Best Trade Stand’ within the Young Enterprise competition. It was also selected to participate in the South West Area Finals on 5th May.
Ann says, “One of our company values is aiming high”, and part of this involves extending the business’s consumer base and audience. The team has been recognised for its customer service skills and wishes to reach and connect with more people in the local community. Ann adds that “although we are only young, with your help we can achieve our dreams and bring people closer through music”.
Ann says family and friends are delighted with how well the business is doing, selling a product that “perfectly fills a gap in the market”. They have also been impressed with how the team has conducted itself, showing passion and maturity with their business skills. Vitae sells its products at local trade fairs which have previously been held at local outlets such as Cribbs Causeway.
