Roll-out of e-scooter trial in the Stokes sparks confusion and controversy

Residents of the Stokes are now able to hire ‘hop-on, hop-off’ e-scooters after a trial scheme was expanded to cover Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and Filton. However, the scheme has not met with universal approval. This article examines the issues and includes responses received from Voi Technology and the police.

Grant’s double marathon for local football charity

A personal trainer from Bradley Stoke is aiming to run 52 miles in a single day in aid of a charity set up to honour the memory of two local footballers. The ‘Two Legends, Two Marathons’ challenge is set to take place on Sunday 25th April.

Accessible path network extended in local woods

The results of a project to improve access to the popular Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve in Bradley Stoke have been unveiled. The project builds on the success of a scheme last year to install 500m of woodland paths which received a £25,000 grant from Enovert Community Trust.

Raised table proposed for Brook Way zebra crossing

South Gloucestershire Council has opened a public consultation on plans to incorporate a raised table into an existing zebra crossing on Brook Way. Within the last five years, two injury incidents occurred when drivers failed to stop for pedestrians on the zebra crossing.

Arrests made following reported assault in Kemperleye Way

Two arrests were made following a reported assault incident in Kemperleye Way, Bradley Stoke on the night of Saturday 20th March. Police investigations continued on the following Sunday morning, with a short section of Kemperleye Way remaining sealed off.

Young footballers raring to go post-lockdown

Bradley Stoke Youth FC have been busy preparing for the safe return of football across all age groups, after a prolonged break due to the national lockdown. The return to training and games from April onwards will provide a much-needed platform for boys and girls to re-unite with teammates and friends to play football in a fun, safe environment.
