A local arts development group is staging a day of free music, dance and drama workshops on Saturday 30th April.
The workshops, which are suitable for all ages, include rock ‘n roll, guitar, disco, salsa, jazz and street dance, drama, flag spinning, pre-school drama and puppet making.
Included is a workshop and performance by the Bristol Concert Orchestra of Prokofiev’s ‘Peter and the Wolf‘ with narrator. Organiser Lynne Miller says you don’t need to understand classical music to enjoy this one – it’s aimed at children (although the grown-ups will enjoy it too!).
All the workshops are being provided by local people who are professionally qualified musicians, dancers and teachers. Prior dance or music experience is not essential in order to take part.
The Arena Arts Festival takes place from 10am to 4pm at Abbeywood Community School, New Road, Stoke Gifford, Bristol [BS34 8SF, map].
For more detailed information about the times and content of workshops, and to book your place, visit: www.eventelephant.com/arenaartsfestival.
Whilst you can turn up on the day, it is advisable to book in advance as there are limited space on some workshops (some are already fully booked). For other enquiries, please call or text Lynne on 0752 8935108.
The event is sponsored by Arena Arts Development Group, Stoke Gifford Parish Council, Bradley Stoke Town Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Rolls-Royce & John Lewis.
Bradley Stoke Town Council’s grant aid contribution of £413.01 was agreed at the 14th February meeting of the Leisure, Youth & Amenities Committee.
