Conservative Jack Lopresti has retained his Filton and Bradley Stoke (FaBS) parliamentary seat but with a much reduced majority of 8.2 percent, compared to 20.0 percent in 2015. His share of the total votes cast was 50.0 percent (46.7 percent in 2015).

Labour’s candidate Naomi Rylatt finished second with a 41.7 percent share of the vote, significantly up from the 26.6 percent her predecessor Ian Boulton achieved in 2015.

The Liberal Democrats’ share of the vote dropped from 7.3 percent in 2015 to 6.0 percent, while the Green Party’s share fell from 4.6 percent to 2.3 percent.

UKIP did not field a candidate. Their prospective candidate, Ben Walker, who polled 14.8 percent of the vote in 2015, had said it would have been “wrong” to stand  … “and potentially affect the result, knowing that [Mr Lopresti] has now given his commitment to Brexit”.

The turnout was 70.2 percent, compared to 68.9 percent in 2015.

Full result:

  1. Jack Lopresti (Conservative) 25,339 [+3.3%]

  3. Eva Fielding (Liberal Democrats) 3,052 [-1.3%]
  4. Diana Warner (Green Party) 1,162 [-2.3%]
