Rabbit Roundabout improvements: Completion date slips into October
Motorists in the Stokes are now able to see the benefits of a £2.9m scheme of improvements at Great Stoke (Rabbit) Roundabout after the final surfacing and road marking tasks were completed
in early September. The new toucan crossings are now expected to go live in October.
Legal e-scooter trial expected to start soon
The West of England Combined Authority (Weca) is accelerating e-scooter trials to provide alternative ways to travel while social distancing is in place on public transport. Two types of hire schemes are expected to be available very soon: hop-on, hop-off hire (similar to YoBike) and longer term lease hire.

Road users in the Stokes have had to contend with numerous sets of roadworks and road closures during September and it seems there will be no let-up in October, with work continuing at Bowsland Way, Trench Lane, Great Stoke (Rabbit) Roundabout, Hatchet Road, Westfield Lane and the M4 motorway.

Another major road resurfacing scheme is set to get under way in Bradley Stoke on Thursday (17th September), at Pear Tree Roundabout on Woodlands Lane (adjacent to the Toby Carvery). The work will be carried out overnight and is expected to take until Thursday 24th September.

Timetable changes coming into effect on Sunday 6th September 2020 will see two new bus services operating in Bradley Stoke as Stagecoach’s 77 and 3B are replaced by new routes. There are also changes to services in the neighbouring areas of Little Stoke and Stoke Gifford.

Work on a £2.9m scheme of major improvements at Great Stoke (Rabbit) Roundabout is still on track to be completed by the end of September, three months ahead of schedule. A three-week period of overnight road closures that began on 5th August was drawing to an end as we went to press.

Motorists in the Stokes will have to contend with yet another series of road closures from Thursday 13th August 2020 when a major resurfacing scheme gets under way on Orpheus Avenue and the southern end of Brook Way. The work is expected to last four weeks.
